There’s nothing like the feeling of freedom you get from riding your motorcycle, and it’s even more fun when you can take long rides with a group. But safety should always come first. There are certain situations that can become unsafe on your rides. Good communication is vital. Moto-Comm is a motorcycle app which makes group rides easier and safer. Moto-Comm is an easy-to-use application. A rider can log in as a group or solo rider. Using the Moto-Comm app with a handle bar-mounted smartphone makes communication with the group simple. The app displays four colored squares which indicate different scenarios: red for urgent, blue for low gas, green for hungry or bathroom break, and yellow for a GPS group locator in the case a rider gets lost or left behind. A Moto-Comm rider simply clicks the color they need to communicate, and all the rider group phones will light up and flash that color along with the name of the rider who set the alert.
Riding in groups should be fun and relaxing, but sometimes, it can get stressful. While riding, group members cannot communicate with each other. This lack of communication is especially dangerous to the riders at the back of the group. There are motorcycle Bluetooth headsets available on the market, but they can get loud with chatter. Most riders want to have a relaxing ride without conversation. If a rider at the back of the group gets into an accident or the bike falls over, it is very unlikely that the rest of the group will notice. Moto-Comm is the solution to a safer, more relaxing ride. Moto-Comm comes with a crash sensor that will alert the group. The alert will show the exact GPS location of the motorcycle down. If the rider feels he or she is in danger, but the bike has not yet fallen over, they can simply press the red square for “urgent”. The rest of the group will be notified and can pull over to the side of the road safely.
Moto-Comm is also useful for non-emergency communication. When riding in a group, one member might need gasoline. It is extremely difficult to alert the rest of the group of this. The rider can speed up to the front of the group and try signaling the rest of the riders to exit, but this method can be confusing and unsafe. With Moto-Comm, the rider can simply press the blue square indicating he or she needs gasoline. The rest of the group will be notified of this, and the riders can safely find the nearest gasoline station. Moto-Comm also has a built in GPS which can find the nearest gas station.
Besides the need to fill up on gasoline, the most common communication issues while riding are communicating hunger or bathroom urges. It is very difficult to let the rest of the group know that you are hungry or have to use the bathroom. If a rider at the back of the group decides to exit by himself or herself, the rest of the group will have no idea, and the rider may become lost. There would otherwise be no way to contact the rest of the group because they cannot use their cellphones while riding. The lost rider would have to wait until the rest of the group arrives at the destination before he or she can contact them. Moto-Comm makes it easy to let the group know you need to exit to use the bathroom or to get a snack. By pressing the green square, the rest of the riders know to exit and find the nearest bathroom or restaurant.
A miscommunication can lead to lost members of the group. If one of the riders loses the rest of the group at any point, he or she can simply press the yellow square. The yellow square is a GPS locator which will show the exact location of each rider on a map.
